There is Only One God

(Moses said to the Israelites) “Now search all of history, from the time God created people on the earth until now, and search from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything as great as this ever been seen or heard before? Has any nation every heard the voice of God speaking from fire-as you did- and survived? Has any other god dared to take a nation for himself out of another nations by means of trials, miraculous signs, wonders, war, a strong hand, a powerful arm, and terrifying acts? Yet this is what the Lord your God did for you in Egypt, right before your eyes.

He showed you these things so you would know that the Lord is God and there is no other. He let you hear His voice from heaven so He could instruct you. He let you see His great fire on earth so He could speak to you from it. Because he loved your ancestors, He chose to bless their descendants, and He personally brought you out of Egypt with a great display of power. He drove out nations far greater than you, so He could bring you and give you their land as your special possession, as it today.

So remember this and kept firmly in mind: The Lord is God, both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other. If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, all will be will with you and your children. I am giving you these instructions so you will enjoy a long life in the land of the Lord your God is giving you for all time.” (Deuteronomy 6: vv. 32-30, NLT)

Benefits of Reading the Bible

“The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.” (Psalm 19:7-8, NLT)

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” (2 Timothy 3:16, NLT)

A Call to Remember and Obey, Excerpts from Deuteronomy Chapt. 8

(Moses said the Israelites) “Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors. Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing to you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey His commands. Yes, He humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell. Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.” (Deuteronomy 8: 1-5, NLT)
