Jesus Foretells the Future, Part III

“”Immediately after the anguish of those days,

the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. An He will send out His angels with the night blast of a trumpet, and they will gather His chosen ones friom all over the world – from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.

Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, you know know His return is very near, right at the door.

I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass form the scene until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will disappear, but My words will never disappear.

However, no on knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son Himself. Only the Father knows.

When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.”” (Matthew 24: v. 29-39, NLT)

Jesus Foretells The Future, Part II

“”The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke bout – the sacrilegious object that causes desecration string in the Holy Place.” (Reader, pay attention!)

“Then those in Judea must fly to the hills. A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field mustn’t return to even get a coat. How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days. And pray that your flight will not be in winter on on the Sabbath. For there will be greater anguish than any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again. In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.”

“Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or “There he is,’ don’t believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. See, I have waned you about this ahead of time.”

“So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the deserts, ‘don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look he is hiding here, ‘ do’t believe it! For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the time is near.”” (Matthew 24: vv. 15-28, NLT)

Jesus Foretells the Future, Part 1

“”Later Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to Him privately and said, :”Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal Your return and the end of the world?”

Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end on’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is one the first of the birth pains, with more to come.”

“Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are My followers. And many will turn away from Me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will decieve many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the wold, so that all nations will hear it; and the end will come.” (Matthew 24: vv 1-14, NLT)

Faith

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it give us assurance about things we cannot see. Through their faith, people in the days of old earned a good reputation.

By faith, we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s commandments that what we see now did to come from anything that can be seen.” (Hebrews 11:vv 1-2, NLT)

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who want to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him. ” (Hebrews 11: 6, NLT)

The Apostle Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Growth

“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make HIs home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grown down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, show wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through His might power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen!”

A Call to Spiritual Growth

“For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for Him and how you have shown your love to Him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and and endurance.” (Hebrews 6: vv. 10-12, NLT)

The Most Important Comandment

“”One of them (a Pharise), an expert in religious law , tried to trap Him (Jesus) with his question: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

Jesus replied, ” You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and the greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.””

Excepts from Psalm 116

“”I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy.

Living as Children of the Light

“Since you have heard about Jesus and have leaned the truth that comes from Him, throw away your sinful nature and your former way of life, which was is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

“”Put on your new nature, created to be like God, truly righteous and holy.

So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. “And don’t sin by letting your anger control you”(ref. Psalm 4:4). Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. Don’t use full or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that you words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, He has identified you as His own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”” (Ephesians 4: 20-32, NLT)

The Greatest in the Kingdom

“”About that time, the disciples came in to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”

Jesus called a little child to Him and put the child among them. Then He said,”I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like the little children, you will never get in to the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes humble as this little child is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on My behalf is welcoming me. But you cause of of the little ones who trusts in Me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.

What sorrows awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting.””
